Clear Style: The “Transparent” Handbag Trend (Spring 2013)

14 Mar

I spy a new trend! The transparent handbag trend took over the streets of Paris, Milan, London, and New York during fashion week. Every fashion forward dame was rockin’a transparent clutch, satchel, or backpack. This trend is fun, kitschy, and perfect for spring! I so want a transparent clutch to whisk around the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Shopping for fresh fruit and veggies is so much more fun with a designer clutch. A word to the wise: don’t carry any  “unmentionables” in your transparent handbag. I would hate for your “freaky” side to be on display for all the world to see.

Prada unveils “The Great Gastsby” Costume Sketches

24 Jan

Hand sketching is definitely a pass time in the fashion world. Many designers have resorted to a quick and more efficient way of sketching their design ideas by using modern technology like Illustrator or Photoshop. Sketching by hand can be very time-consuming and a labor of the love. The end result however is a designer’s artistic masterpiece. I adore the opportunity to view the hand sketches of celebrated designers like Prada. What a treat to see Miuccia Prada’s costume sketches from the highly anticipated movie – “The Great Gatsby”. The 1920’s beaded striped shift dress is my FAVE! I’m so looking forward to seeing this movie. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire to name a few. The Great Gatsby will hit theaters in late spring (May 10).

Bag of the Day

25 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving to my Stateside readers! I've been dreaming about this bag to add to my Spring collection of handbags.  Its by PRADA which pretty much is a enuf said but, I do love the size of this bag. Its made out of felt and leather and larger enough to carry the entire contents of small NYC apartment or the leftovers from my Thanksgiving dinner cooked by Moi. It won't officially be in stores until next Spring, which is plenty of time for me to decide if I want to make it mine or not.
