Penhaligon’s of London at Saks Fifth Avenue (San Francisco)

21 Dec

A couple of weeks ago I attended a special event for “Penhaligon’s of London”,  at Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco. Penhaligon’s of London is a lovely British perfume company established in 1872 by the brilliant William Penhaligon. They’re perfume is made from the finest rare ingredients – like hand squeezed bergamot and jasmine twice the price of gold. The scent of their perfumes is so intoxicating, you won’t want to stop smelling yourself.

I was treated to a one-on-one perfume consultation, by the ever so knowledgable Brian Kurtz (Marketing Director for North America). Brian took the time to explain the rich history of the Penhaligon’s of London brand. The brand has been around for ages. Winston Churchill wore Penhaligon’s of London iconic “Juniper” scent. The packaging is Ah-mazing! Each bottle is so unique and special, with a color coded label and matching ribbon. The bottles are perfect for any perfume collector. The packaging also bears the official royal seals from Prince Phillip and Prince Charles. It’s all so old world England. I love it!

After walking through roughly ten different scents, I couldn’t make up my mind as to which one was my favorite. And then it happened. Brian took out a gorgeous little bottle from a red box, slipped off the top, and handed the bottle to me. I inhaled a glorious smell – filled with citrus, nutmeg, and ginger. I had found my “love scent” …….Penhaligon’s of London – “Malabah!”  It was so divine! It instantly became my new favorite scent. Which is saying a lot, since I’ve been rocking the same perfume (Quelques Fleurs) for the past 10 years. No judgement, Quelques Fluers has been good to me. I’m anticipating Penhaligon’s London – Malabah to be even better! It really is the scent of the century. At least for me.

I strongly encourage you to stop by the Penhaligon’s of London perfume counter at Saks Fifth Avenue. Your nose will thank you!

*Special Thank you to Brian Kurtz – Sales & Marketing Director, North America for gifting me with the lovely Ladies Miniture Fragance Collection, Ellenisia Candle, and the Travel Atomiser. I will cherish them all!*

Saks SF Contemporary Week – Vote and Win $1000 Shopping Spree

29 Sep

I was invited by Saks Fifth Avenue (San Francisco) to participate in their Blogger Competition, in honor of Men’s and Women’s Contemporary Week!  The challenge – to incorporate this seasons hottest Fall trends.  Leather in rich hues, novelty denim, statement sweaters, and decorative fabrication (brocade). If you’ve ever stepped foot into the luxury store you’re already aware of all the gorgeous and lovely clothing, handbags, and shoes that surrounds you. It’s not hard to style amazing outfits when you’re choosing from a plethora of legendary designers. I mean its Saks 5th Avenue, need I say more.

For my first look I decided to go with an embellished parka vest, white & grey color-blocked blouse, and snakeskin printed pants. My second look I had to go with a lovely rich burgundy floral printed dress and pair it with a bordeaux colored leather jacket. I love how they both turned out. Don’t forget to stop by Saks SF (on Post Street) and vote for my looks on the 5th floor. You will also be entered to win a$1000 shopping spree!!!!

*Special thanks to Konrad Janus and Lauren Rosa Hernandez for all their help. Saks SF marketing team is as wonderful as they are fierce!*

Jean Paul Gaultier: Press Preview @ the de Young Museum

24 Mar

I was so honored to be invited and attend the private press preview for the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the de Young. Monsieur Gaultier was in attendance and I must say he’s probably one of the most humble Haute Couture Designers ever. He shared stories of how he got started and what he loves about fashion. My favorite quote from him. “All women are beautiful no matter their size or ethnic background, they all have beauty” Love him! We weren’t allowed to take any pictures with him due to time. I did manage to worm my way into asking him to autograph one of his postcards for me. He spelled my name wrong, but who cares. LOL! I’m going to frame it as a sign of things to come for my fashion blog!

I tried to take as many video clips and pictures my camera could hold. I wanted my Readers that don’t reside in California to witness this exquisite exhibit.  See the video below with Mr. Gauliter speaking and a preview of the exhibit. Enjoy!

Saks Fashion’s Night Out – The Aftermath

13 Sep

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to all my wonderful and amazing friends/readers who came out to support me at Saks Fashion’s Night Out. It was such an honor to to be invited as one of the six Bay Area fashion bloggers to participant in the event. We sipped on champagne, noshed on mini BLT’s, and sweet popcorn. It really was an amazing night spent with old and new friends. I must confess it was a bit intimidating styling Men’s clothing but once I stepped foot into  Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store , I was hooked. I had the most exquisite selection of Designer clothing to choose from. Some of these pieces I have only seen in fashion magazines. I was elated to actually see and touch the clothes in person. The Men’s looks I styled turned out quite brilliant, if I don’t say so myself. Now all I have to do is find an M-A-N that will wear what I styled.

HUGE thank you to Konrad Janus, Lauren, Saks Men’s Store Associates, and the wonderful display team who dressed the mannequins. You all are the BEST!!!

“Fashion Unraveled: Moving Beyond the Bolt”

14 Apr

There are times when I despise going to fancy functions by my single self, luckily tonight was NOT one of those nights! My wonderful friends showed up in abundance to support me in “Fashion Unraveled: Moving Beyond the Bolt” Art Show hosted by GENSLER! I’m so honored to be apart of the show! My fashion illustration was perfectly displayed in GENSLER’s gorgeous offices. Its always awkward for me to talk about myself so, I won’t torcher you with a self-absorbed post. I would rather you enjoy pictures taken at the lovely evening I just wrapped up!

I must send some special love to Shady, Joey, Cielomae, Katy, & Christina for their support! It’s always nice to have amazing people cheer you on! Oh, and a special thanks to my Sissy who helped me name my piece, ok let me stop with all the “thank-you’s” before this post turns into a bad Oscar acceptance speech!

Girls’ Night Out – Saks 5th Avenue

18 Nov

Everything that sparkles is gold when it comes to fashion! I saw evidence of this last night during FabSugar Girls' Night Out at Saks 5th Avenue. As, I wandered around the store sipping on my bubbly and noshing on cumin flavored popcorn (the popcorn was pretty tasty) I was blinded by all the bling. There were sequined sweaters, purses, coats, and dresses. The hardest part of the evening was managing to take pictures of all the pretty and shiny things I saw without spilling my champagne or chocking on my popcorn. I must say my favorite pieces of the night were the Alexander McQueen brocade gold clutch and the Alice & Olivia sequined jacket. I think it's important to have one statement bling piece in your closet, something you're in love with and feel confident in. I did leave the store without purchasing a single thing but not empty handed as I was gifted with free swag ……a lovely snakeskin printed tote filled with goodies!
