Saks SF Contemporary Week – Vote and Win $1000 Shopping Spree

29 Sep

I was invited by Saks Fifth Avenue (San Francisco) to participate in their Blogger Competition, in honor of Men’s and Women’s Contemporary Week!  The challenge – to incorporate this seasons hottest Fall trends.  Leather in rich hues, novelty denim, statement sweaters, and decorative fabrication (brocade). If you’ve ever stepped foot into the luxury store you’re already aware of all the gorgeous and lovely clothing, handbags, and shoes that surrounds you. It’s not hard to style amazing outfits when you’re choosing from a plethora of legendary designers. I mean its Saks 5th Avenue, need I say more.

For my first look I decided to go with an embellished parka vest, white & grey color-blocked blouse, and snakeskin printed pants. My second look I had to go with a lovely rich burgundy floral printed dress and pair it with a bordeaux colored leather jacket. I love how they both turned out. Don’t forget to stop by Saks SF (on Post Street) and vote for my looks on the 5th floor. You will also be entered to win a$1000 shopping spree!!!!

*Special thanks to Konrad Janus and Lauren Rosa Hernandez for all their help. Saks SF marketing team is as wonderful as they are fierce!*

The $250,000 Black Diamond Nail Polish

27 Sep

Who needs diamonds to wear around your neck when you can wear them on your nails! AZATURE dubbed “The Black Diamond King” has created the most expensive bottle of nail polish in the WORLD, at a staggering $250,000! The tiny bottle of nail polish contains over 267-carats of  black diamonds. Now that’s some serious b-l-i-n-g!

You can get the look for less by purchasing AZATURE less espensive bottle sans the black diamonds of course. Which will only set you back $25.00. It’s so nice of AZATURE to consider us common folks and create a more “affordable” option.

Five Famous Wearers of the Bow Tie

26 Sep

With London fashion week taking place last week and the distinct lack of bow-ties that were on show there, we thought that this was the perfect reason to shout the house down about them and take a look at some of the coolest people in history to wear the symmetrical neck tie! You never know, available from companies such as S Buckinghams, we might just convince you to go out there and wear one!

BILL NYE (the Science Guy)

Children throughout the world have grown up learning their basic science from one of the coolest guys on the planet, Bill Nye. Never seen in public without his trademark bow tie, the scientist has gained a new world wide appreciation with the advances of the internet and has a regular fan base throughout many social sites.

Interestingly, Nye is a keen Baseball fan and enjoys experimenting with the physics of the game.

One of the most memorable British Prime Ministers in history, Churchill has left an ever stretching shadow across history, not only for his wartime victories, but too for his bow-tie attire and top hat.

Though you may not think of Mr. Churchill as much of a fashion icon, he has indeed left an everlasting mark on British culture with his famous V sign, glamorization of the Union Jack, postage stamps and use in insurance advertisements.

One of the most famous Broadway singers, actors and musicians ever to hit the stage, Astaire’s career spanned a total of 76 long happy years.

With Astaire still influencing the generations of today, it is to no surprise that in his day, he was also one of the most sought heart throbs in Hollywood and acted alongside many Hollywood beauties including Rita Hayworth, Joan Leslie and Joan Caulfied; picking up a large assortment of awards along the way including two three Golden Globes and one Academy Award.

The largest name in popular music over the last seventy years, Frank Sinatra was rarely seen without a bow tie, but with thirteen Grammy awards, four Golden Globes and three Academy awards to his name, who could blame him?

Before his death in 1998, Ol’ Blue Eyes had over thirty studio albums under his belt with many of them reaching and gold certificates by the RIAA.

The last but not least of these famous bow tie wearers may well indeed be fictional but James Bond may very well be the most recognised bow tie wearer of the lot.

With the new film, Skyfall coming out this Autumn, get ready to brace yourself for some more bow-tie wearing action flashness!

Though Bond’s favourite drink is not actually the martini (he drank more champagne in the novels than vodka martini), we can rest assured that he is indeed our favourite bow tie wearer!

Project Runway – OUT / Bling It On – IN

25 Sep

Reality shows are a dime a dozen these days and to be honest I only watch a handful of them. I use to love Project Runway until they stopped picking talent and started picking what was sellable. So with Project Runway on the outs, my need for a new design show was imperative. Recently I came across a wildly entertaining show called  “BLING IT ON” on TLC. This show has all the crazy antics we love on Project Runway (minus the annoying judge’s panel). You have the kooky characters (the customers), insane deadlines, loads of creativity, and unforgettable design creations. One of the most endearing qualities about “BLING IT ON”  is the shop owner and head designer. Sondra Celli has been designing for many years, prior to any major network waving their magic wand and dubbing her a fashion designer over night. This lady is legit! She’s not some designer wannabe, who got a reality show, to create a fake storyline about a designing a phantom clothing line. I mean whatever happen to She by Sheree’? I’m still waiting Sheree’. Hearing crickets…….

This show is a breath of fresh air! Cellis the Queen of Bling has a huge clientele that adore blinged out dresses. The more rhinestone the better. Sondra creates custom-made wedding dresses, party dresses, baby swimsuits, costumes, and dog outfits. Yep,  she can even bling out a little outfit for your four-legged friend.

My favorite character  is Jeanette, an 80 year old seamstress who’s been working with Sondra for 20 years. This turbo seamstress can produce 7 to 8 paris of boys pants within a 8 hours time span. No that’s a gansta-seamstress! I mean I can sew a pair of pants but it will take me 8 days. No joke!

The standout client from Episode 1 – a bride getting married in Vegas. She rquested a neon wedding dress. Yep, you read that corretly….NEON!  Below is a sketch and a picture of the finished gown. It took 96 hours of “blining” and over 47,000 stones to create the walking “Times Square” sign. The final cost $10,000 big ones!

The dress certainly wouldn’t be my choice for that special day. But hey, I don’t judge any bride on her wedding day. Its her DAY and she should rock what she loves! Even if what she loves makes her look like Chiquita Banana wrestling a million Fireflies.

Kiki’s Kitchen: Baked Apples w/ Cinnamon

23 Sep

In honor of the first day of Autumn, I’m whipping up some apple-cinnamon goodness. Straight from Kiki’s Kitchen, I bring you Baked Apples w/ Cinnamon. I found this grand recipe on, who knew you could find delicious recipes on PBS. This quick and simple recipe is perfect for those fall days and the aroma from the apples baking is so divine. I mean what man wouldn’t want to come home to the sweet smell of apples permeating the air. I’m positive Snookums would love this sweet little dish. Too bad I haven’t met him yet. Whatever he’s doing he’s missing out on some good cookin’.

Happy First Day of Fall Darlings!!!

STEP ONE: Start with whatever apples your little heart fancies. I used Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Breaburn, and Gala. I like to mix it up! Holla!

STEP TWO: Chop up the apples into small squares.  Don’t make them too small or they will cook too fast and become mushy. The goal is baked apples not applesauce.

STEP THREE: Place your chopped apples in a bowl and add your cinnamon, brown sugar, and fresh squeezed lemon juice.  Follow the recipe for correct measurements.

STEP SIX: Place apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375 degrees for 30min.

Serve with pork chops, chicken, or eat them straight up!!!

  • 2 lbs apples (either Cortland or Gala for best results), cored and chopped
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Toss the chopped apples with the cinnamon, lemon juice and brown sugar and place in a baking or casserole dish.
  2. Cook apples, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes until soft and juicy. Serve for dessert with ice cream or with roast meat for dinner.

Shoe Crush: Vince Camuto (Velvet Stacked Heels)

21 Sep

Major shoe crush happening over here at The Fashion Camp!  These gorgeous Vince Camuto Verona velvet heels are calling my name! I’m in love with the Royal Blue one’s. I will be purchasing them ASAP. I have a strong feeling they will be the perfect date shoes.

Oh I almost forgot…if any of you are in the market for a smashing new pair of heels, Vince is giving 25% off a $125 or more purchase. Sadly the shoes I’m stalking are $119 and won’t qualify for the 25% discount. What’s up with that?!

New To Camp: Jes Millo (Jewelry Designer)

20 Sep

Knitted, beaded, jewelry…oh my!

New to Camp – where I feature up and coming designers. I love featuring new talent, its one of the reasons I created my fashion blog. They are so many insanely talented designers that just haven’t gotten the exposure they deserve. I hope to change that on my blog. One has to remember that even Marc Jacobs started out as an unknown.

Darlings! Meet Jes Millo, a brilliant jewelry designer whose talent for knitted and beaded jewelry is unmatched.  Known for fusing multicolored beads with braided jersey knits, her design aesthetic is so fresh and unique. I’m crushing hard on the piece in the first picture below! Jes was so kind to gift me with one of her lovely pieces of jewelry. I will be rocking it in my new video series for (more on that project later). In the meantime check out Jes’s amazing collection on – Jes Millo! She’s running an end of the summer sale on her Etsy shop for 25% off.  Just enter ENDOSUMMER when you check out. Happy Shopping!

3 Thing For Him

19 Sep

FASHION: Cole Haan LunarGrand Wingtip Shoes! I love these shoes for men, they’re so RAD!  These wingtip shoes are the perfect balance between polished and edgy. The pop of the neon yellow soles really brings a modern vibe to your outfit. Ladies will think you’re doing it like BOSS when they see you rocking these handsome shoes.

FOOD:  Tom Yum Noodle Soup! With the colder weather fasting approaching indulging in soup is a MUST! Don’t be boring and eat chicken noodle soup. Step out of your comfort zone and try some Tom Yum Noodle Soup. This bowl of sweet n’ spicy deliciousness is sure to warm you up and fill your belly. Tom Yum is a staple soup in Thailand and has some awesome healing benefits. All the fresh garlic, lime juice, peppers, and special broth produces immune-boosting powers to help fight colds and flu virus. The next time you find yourself dining at a Thai restaurant with a date  –  why not order a big, piping hot, bowl of Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Careful sharing the noodles. Having a “Lady and The Tramp” moment isn’t cute when you’re adults. Nope, not cute!

TV SHOW: Copper on BBC America. Ok my sweet fell-loves! I realize some of you work really hard and need sometime to unwind in front of the Telly. Check out COPPER on BBC America, its brilliant!  The show is set in 1864 in New York City and follows the life of Detective Corcoran…….an Irishman who’s lost his wife and daughter. One of my favorite characters is Matthew Freeman the Forensic Scientist who assists Corcoran in solving his crimes. The costumes are pretty ballin’ too. The show does have some frisky scenes, so it’s probably not a great idea to watch the show on a first date. Unless you’re channeling “Rico Suave“.

Geometric Overload: Prada Fall 2012

17 Sep

It’s all in the details! I’m pretty sure that was Miuccia Prada’s (Head Designer) mantra when designing the Fall 2012 collection. I feel so liberated that prints are back in style. Most people shy away from prints but I embrace them. Printed blouses, pants, skirts, dresses, and shoes…..its all fair game this season. Typically less is more when approaching prints but this season “print on print” is the way to go. I’m obsessed with pairing black and white stripes against black and white geometric shapes. Winning!
