Girls’ Night Out – Saks 5th Avenue

 

Everything that sparkles is gold when it comes to fashion! I saw evidence of this last night during FabSugar Girls' Night Out at Saks 5th Avenue. As, I wandered around the store sipping on my bubbly and noshing on cumin flavored popcorn (the popcorn was pretty tasty) I was blinded by all the bling. There were sequined sweaters, purses, coats, and dresses. The hardest part of the evening was managing to take pictures of all the pretty and shiny things I saw without spilling my champagne or chocking on my popcorn. I must say my favorite pieces of the night were the Alexander McQueen brocade gold clutch and the Alice & Olivia sequined jacket. I think it's important to have one statement bling piece in your closet, something you're in love with and feel confident in. I did leave the store without purchasing a single thing but not empty handed as I was gifted with free swag ……a lovely snakeskin printed tote filled with goodies!

My Fashion Crush

 

My fashion crush are these gorgeous necklaces by Fiona Paxton. I usually have a fashion crush once a month on something crazy expensive and spend every waking minute stalking it until it goes on sale. Sometimes, MFC (my fashion crush)  are MANY different things and can poses a bit of a predicament for my savings account. However, these exquisite hand crafted necklaces by Fiona Paxton aren't insanely expensive starting at $200. I love her pieces because of the delicate and intricate geometric shapes that are woven onto the necklaces. This will definitely be on my wish list for Christmas!

 

 

 

 

 

Look of the Day

 

Faux fur is back and it's taking over fashion! I've seen faux fur in just about everything well except for women's underwear. I think its safe to say that NO woman wants to wear fur panties….moving on. With the economy still struggling to bounce back, many Couture Designers opted for faux fur instead of the usual real fur that is shown on the runways. I've always been a huge fan of faux fur. I love animals and fashion but, can't bring myself to wear a jacket made from furry little animals. The superb thing about this trend is that it comes in a variety of different things from hats to coats, vests, scarves, gloves, and stoles. The best selection and prices are at H&M, TOPSHOP, and ASOS. I own a pretty stellar, faux fur, cream colored jacket that I picked up at a vintage shop in Seattle. It's Party Time! With many Holiday parties just around the corner…..the question always comes up "what should I do with my hair." I realize every woman has a different type of hair and texture but, it's always fun to play around with unique styles and accessories. The Holiday season is a perfect time to be more creative with your hair. The hot trend for this Holiday season are barrettes, ribbons, and jeweled headbands. Target Black Friday *sneak peek*

 

Target's black Friday mailer was "leaked" online a couple of days ago. I'm pretty sure the word "leaked" translates to "intentionally submitted online in order to create major hysteria amongst the general public 2 weeks before the actual black Friday sale starts." I went to Target's black Friday sale 2 years ago to purchase some toys for my niece and nephew. True story: a woman repeatedly ran into me with her cart and told me to get out the way. I briefly considered chucking the toy at her head but, realized I didn't want to explain to the twins (my niece and nephew) why I would be sending their Christmas presents from the slammer. Anyway, please try to be calm and understanding at these sales. I realize there are major deals to be had but, at the end of the day it's just material things. Christmas is about love and spending it with your loved ones!

What the Fur

 

One of my lovely FB friends (thx Sonja) sent this to me and I had to share it with my wonderful readers! Now, you all know I don't wear real fur but I'm amazed how this massive fur headdress can be worn as a chic fur stole. However, it's safe to say that the only person on the planet who could rock this without looking like a Mama Grizzly would be Lady GAGA! She also has enough security to protect her from PETA and the money to purchase this fur headdress which comes with a staggering price of $4450.00 USD! Would any of you rock this?

 

 

 

Look of the Day “Men in Uniforms”

Who doesn’t love a man in Uniform?! Or in this case a man wearing clothes that are inspired by military uniforms. Menswear for Fall and next Spring has a strong presence of military-inspired shirts, pants, jackets and coats. It’s a cool and simple style for most men to sport. I’ve found that Old Navy and J.Crew have the best selection for military-inspired clothing this season. For a more authentic look try scouting out your local thrift store for gently worn military clothing. Pair a dark green military jacket with a cool pair of denim. Fellas, most women love a man in uniform but, only if the uniform represents your real profession. If you’re Not in the military there is no need for you to be in full on camo clothing and making statements like “I am trying to avenge the wrong that was done to me.” It’s hard to tell if you’re playing G.I. Joe or just creepy. Either way it’s not a good look.

I've been in love with Versace since I first discovered couture fashion.  I'm drawn to this designer because, of the constant use of color (you know I heart my color) and classic silhouettes! The collections designed by Donatella always have a strong sense of femininity accented with potent independence.  The women that wear Versace are bold, intelligent, and ultra sexy. I recently saw an interview with Donatella Versace she said, "I always like to wear a pop of color in the winter."
