Long Live McQueen

30 Oct

Picture it! You're on your sexy yacht lounging around in one of these beautiful Alexander McQueen dresses. Why are you lounging? Well, your independently wealthy and spend most of your time traveling to exotic places while parading around in haute couture gowns on Holiday! It's a fabulous life! I'm loving McQueen's Haute Couture Resort 2011 collection it's full of rich, vibrant, and luxurious fabrics fit for a Queen!

Men in Hats

29 Oct

Winter is beginning to creep up on us which means it's almost hat season. I heart men in hats! Whether it's a black fedora, tweed cap, or a chunky knit hat…I think it's a very sharp and clean look. With department stores starting to carry more of their fall/winter merchandise it's the perfect time to pick up a great looking hat. Any man can sport a sharp hat …you just have to find the one that fits your head shape and style. I feel I must make this statement ….fellas, absolutely NO pimps hats! Anything with animal print or velvet stripes is a pimp hat. Stay away from it….they're NEVER a good look not even on a pimp!

Pick of the Day

29 Oct

A couple of weeks ago after featuring cardigans for men on my blog. One of my friends asked me to send her some suggestions for her hubby. I sent her a few choices and below are pictures of the cardigans her hubby went with. I love the style of both of these cardigans because, they can easily be dressed up or down. Check out UrbanOutfitters for the best selection and prices on men's cardigans.

Halloween vs. Couture

28 Oct

One of the most fascinating qualities about fashion is the ability to be abstract at times! Couture Designers are always pushing the envelope between wearable fashion, costumes and art. Since, Halloween is just around the corner I thought it would be fun to showcase some of my favorite avant-garde Couture Designers. I definitely wouldn't advocate you trying any of these looks unless you are attending a stellar Halloween event! Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

 Louis Vuitton Navajo Inspired Dress

Here's my pick of the day! I love the pattern and colors. You can't tell from the picture but, the colors in this dress are very vibrant! I would definitely forgo the brown moccasin boots and style this dress with a pair of sexy strappy sandals!

Bag Lady

26 Oct

I heart handbags!  Recently, this year I added a vintage Chanel handbag to my collection. It feels like Christmas every time I go into my closet to change out my bag. One handbag I won't be purchasing is an Hermes Birkin. Each Hermes bag is made by hand and has to be pre-ordered. The price starts at $10,000!!  Yes, starts at $10,000 and goes all the way up to $50,000. Call me crazy but, I feel like $10,000 or more should be invested in something other than arm candy! Check out these pictures of some sweet arm candy from the Designer's Fall 2010 Collections.

My Grey Obsession

25 Oct

I am completely and totally enamored with the color grey! I own grey dresses, jeans, handbags, coats, shoes….you name it I own it. I can't stay away from the color.  It's like going to your favorite restaurant and wanting to try something different but, instead you order the same meal you always eat. My attachment to the color has been going strong for 2 years now and I don't see it dying down anytime soon. Just this past weekend I bought 2 grey sweaters and a grey suede messenger bag.  I pair the color with everything in my closet! These days my favorite way to wear it is with anything camel color. I have the most lovely camel color boots and wear them with my grey skinny jeans and a simple grey sweater. I wonder if they have a 12 step program for color addiction. Hmmm, it might be something worth looking into.

Cape On

25 Oct

Are capes awesome or awful? This was a question posed to me by a friend. Laura this ones for you! Capes are actually pretty awesome for two reasons… first, they have a very chic super hero quality to them and second they keep you warm. I prefer capes in solid colors only! Capes with prints and patterns tend to look a little like Grandma Moses. Stay away from cropped capes that hit right at the waist it will make you look bigger. Capes that fall past the hips are the best because, they create a more slimming look. So, the official verdict on capes is complete awesomeness! Just take care not to make any statement like "Up up and away or I'm batman" when wearing your cape.

Down in the Trenches

23 Oct

Since it's debut in 1914 worn first by the British army, the trench coat has become the quintessential statement jacket for fall! I heart this coat for it's classic and chic style. Over the years I've developed a strong attraction for one trench coat in particular …..the icon Burberry Prorsum Double-Breasted Trench Coat. It's impeccably made and fits like a glove. There's only one problem – the $1,795.00 sticker price! Oh, Burberry how I dream about you and the day I will wear you out in the rain. We must meet soon!

Layer Up Fellas

22 Oct

Layering is a brilliant way to dress up your denim in the fall/winter months. One of the hottest trends this season is layering a button down or t-shirt with a velvet jacket. I adore this look it's so rich and rugged.  Chunky sweaters with a button down shirt and tie are also great looks worn with jeans.  You don't always have to wear a suit to look dressed up. Here's a few pictures for inspiration. Just make sure the velvet blazer isn't too tight…..I would hate for you to be at your office holiday party looking like JJ from Good Times. Happy Friday!
